I’ve seen this cringeworthy situation happen all too often. Someone walks up to a slim person and ignorantly blurts out, “Oh my God, you’re TOO SKINNY….You need to eat something!” Easier said than done, right? If you’ve ever heard this statement, or worse, you’ve been on the receiving end of that dumb ass declaration, you know that statement is just as hurtful as someone telling an overweight person that they need to lose weight. BODY SHAMING is body shaming no matter the size of the person on the receiving end.
As a trainer, I feel for my clients when they share their struggles with trying to gain
weight, because I understand that putting on healthy weight (in all the right places) takes more than just eating 10 big macs and PB&J sandwiches every day. In fact, putting on healthy weight is not only determined by what you eat and how often, but also your body type, metabolism, and how often you work out. Yes, you read that correctly, I said work out!
